The island of Corfu (Kerkyra)
During the high season (July/August) it is very crowded. The Northern part of the city is close to Gouvia. At the coast there are many disco's. Close to the new harbour there is opposit of the Disco Apocalypsis a bunjee jumping possibility during the summer. There is also a family park at the 'Plateia Spilia' in Corfu.
Close to Gouvia you can find the reconstructed settlement called 'Danilia', in which there are many nice things to do, like dancing, eating and drinking. Other musts are: For artlovers: Kato Korakiana (Corfu National Art Gallery). For lovers of beavarages: Mavromatis distillar a little outside the village of Felekas. The best food of the island can be found, so the say, at the 'Aelos Beach Bungalows'. Quiet beaches can be found more to the south: Messongi (nice beach for children), or even more to the south for even more quiet beaches. For jet- and waterskiing, diving and scuba-diving, you have to go to 'Agios Gordios beach' (8 km south of Glifada).
There are special boat trips around the island. This is very interesting because they bring you to the best places of the island and at the same time it is a beutiful day out. People will help you to find your way to the best restaurants. With a motorbike or with a scooter it is good possible to cover the island (please compare the quality and prices of the scooters!) Last year it was possible to rent a simple scooter for 2500 Dr per day. The Corfu dance and music festival is in the months August and Septem ber. Furthermore there are many archeoligic sites and several museums to see.
