|Type of provisions There are many types of dining provisions. I will mention some: Taverna: Mostly with life-music, but the pricing is spicy. The food is good but more important is the pleasant atmosphere. This kind of restaurants open from 8.00 PM. Restaurant (estiatorio/psistaria): Good food with service. Grilled food is the speciallity of the psistaria. Ouzerie: Here ouzo is served in combination with hort d'oevre (mezè). Galaktopolio: Here you can find milkproducts and pudding, ice, coffee and tea. Open all day. Zacharoplastio: Here you buy or you eat pastry, chocolate, cookies and other sweets (mostly ice and icecakes). Mostly you can drink something too. Kafenio: Mostly places with a lot of smoke where mostly the male part of the population is present playing card or backgammon. Also the place for discussion about politics. People drink here beer, coffee, tea, Nescafe (warm) or, my favorite, Frappe (icecold Nescafe). Then there are the pizzeria's and icecream salons.||Breakfast The breakfast: Everywhere the 'European' breakfast is served: Bread with butter and marmelade and ham and eggs with coffee or tea.|
|Lunch The lunch: You have to wait untill 1.00 PM. It is the main dish for the Greeks.||Dinner Dinner: This starts not before 8.00 PM and sometimes at 10.00 PM. Together with the warm meal bread is used to push the food on the fork and to soak the oily liquids that remain from the food. This is only done in the village type of restaurants! The olive oil which is used is absolutely not harmful for your digesting system. Fish is present in many types and is served in almost any restaurant. First take a look in the kitchen to see whether everything is clean (this is permitted in most restaurants).|
|Suggestion Try and visit a Greek restaurant in your neighbourhood to get a tast of the the different meals that are offered in Greece.|
